Discovering Opera - Cosi Fan Tutte

29 June 2011 by Cristina

Così fan tutte, ossia La scuola degli amanti (Thus Do They All, or The School For Lovers)

The cynical Don Alfonso makes a bet with Ferrando and Guglielmo that their fiancées, the sisters Dorabella and Fiordiligi, can't be faithful to them. They accept, agree to follow his instructions, and plan how to use their winnings.

Wolfgang Mozart wrote some 20 operas, four of them extremely famous: Così fan tutte, Le Nozze di Figaro pan (The Marriage of Figaro), Don Giovanni, and Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).

Così fan tutte is a comic opera (buffa) with an unusual title. Così means "in this way" or "like this," fan means "do," and tutte means the Italian feminine version for "all." So the title can be translated as "In this way do all (women)" or "Like this do all (women)." Or it can even be "Women are all Alike." It's a farce, a fun opera, nevertheless, the genius Mozart wrote some of his great music.

McLaren Technology Centre Experience

22 June 2011 by Barry

MCLAREN TECHNOLOGY CENTRE EXPERIENCE

Following the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on Sunday 12th June 2011 which could only be described as dramatic, chaotic in a rain-soaked and action packed Grand Prix.

Jenson Button revels in 'special weekend' in Canada, possibly one of "The best win's of my career - this couldn't have been much sweeter !"

On Monday 13th June, two very enthusiastic followers of Formula 1, both Barry and Bill made their way towards Woking for a tour of the McLaren Technology Centre.

On arrival and after some discussion we were offered very kindly the official, Press Release from Vodafone McLaren Mercedes for the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix.

It was such an inspiring, informative and interesting tour, after completion, we found ourselves back in the McLaren Technology Centre car park, both in awe of the fact we had both died and gone to Formula 1 heaven.

It made absolute sense that we reflected upon what could only be described as a fabulous day and we both agreed to compile some of our thoughts and experiences to share...

An Truly Inspiring Experience

LISTEN and enjoy the 35 minute reflection and review what is purely for your listening pleasure.

Photography and audio recording is not permitted on site at the McLaren Technology Centre.
