Duckett on Deben - Happy New Year

29 December 2011 by Chloe

2011 has to be one the best years yet; I completed a 3 week placement with the BBC, turned 21 and graduated from University.

I have created a programme which highlights some of my favourite memories from the year. It’s hard to pin pick a moment, but I think finding out I had achieved a 2:1 in my degree was one of the best.

I was in Lanzarote on holiday with my friend and we had to use a computer at our hotel to find out our results. It was one of the most nerve wracking moments of my life, scrolling down the page to see the all-important marks. We both got 2:1’s and went to the beach to celebrate with cocktails, perfect.

It’s been an incredible year and I’m not sure if 2012 will be able to top it, but I’m ready to find out…

Happy New Year Everyone

Duckett on Deben - Merry Christmas

23 December 2011 by Chloe

So here it is Merry Christmas, everybody’s having fun; well let’s face it Christmas is probably the most keenly anticipated celebratory festival of the year, a time to celebrate, a time to share laughter with friends and family; but is it all it’s cracked up to be? Is it always great fun? Well as long as you stay relaxed and get yourself into the right frame of mind, it will be!

  • Get ready to sing those oh so familiar Christmas songs.
  • Get ready to be polite to those relatives you only ever see at Christmas.
  • Get ready to consume vast amounts of delicious food and alcohol.

But before you get too carried away; did you know that on Christmas Day, the average adult consumes over 5 times their normal daily calorific intake; now there’s a thought to make you take it a bit steadier!

Duckett on Deben - Dancing or Doughnuts

12 December 2011 by Chloe

Let’s be honest, if someone offered you the choice of eating a doughnut or going to an exercise class, you’re going to take the doughnut!

Exercising seems such a chore, it’s the last thing you want to be doing on a cold, dark winter night, but I think it is extremely important to exercise even if it’s only for 20 minutes a day!

I personally love to exercise, ok maybe the word love is a little bit strong, but I do enjoy exercising. It makes me feel a lot more energised, happy and confident about myself.

However money is a massive problem for me, I can’t afford a monthly gym membership and I can’t afford to go to weekly classes. I try to run as regularly as possible but I don’t always have the time.

I spoke to Charlie Holmes, an aerobics instructor at Leiston Leisure Centre. She told me about the importance of exercising and what exercise you can do for free!
